Bildeston's Development Questionnaire about the future of housing, conducted by the Neighbourhood Plan Working Group on behalf of the Parish Council, has discovered a large degree of unanimity about how villagers want Bildeston to develop. Distributed to all 480 homes in Bildeston, 277 completed questionnaires were returned. The key findings are: 


  • 83% of respondents want fewer than 60 new homes in the village in the next 15 years.

  • 93% think that the village does not need a lot more housing.

  • 77% don't support the village expanding beyond its current limits.

  • Only 11% favour new housing estates on farmland around Bildeston.

On related issues, 90% want more litter and dog-mess bins, 62% are in favour of a 20mph speed limit, and 95% feel privileged to live in Bildeston. 97% of respondents want the District Council to heed the wishes of the village regarding planning decisions.
