Bildeston is a thriving village of a thousand or so which sits in the heart of south Suffolk’s lovely countryside. It is within easy reach of Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds, Hadleigh and Sudbury. We enjoy unspoilt rural surroundings combined with a remarkably high level of services for a village of this size. Why don’t you explore our web site and find out exactly what we have to offer.
The Parish Council has received an application for a substantial development of 48 residential dwellings on land to the east of Artiss Close and Rotheram Road. This application will be considered by the Parish Council at its next meeting at Chamberlin Hall on Monday, 8th December, 2014 at 7.30pm when we will decide what representations to make to the Planning Authority.
Otherwise please feel free to contact me on 01449 776393
Bildeston Parish Council wants your views on how Bildeston should develop. There are currently 470 houses in Bildeston – a number that has grown by about 30 in the last ten years. It is likely that Bildeston will have more new houses in the years to come; certainly Babergh District Council has identified a need for more than 1,000 new houses spread across its rural villages by 2031. So, if Bildeston is to have more houses, the question is: how many, of what size and type, and where? Each answer throws up more questions about what each of us value about living in Bildeston.
Bildeston Parish Council wants the people of Bildeston to be able to influence the big decisions that will affect the future of the village. A questionnaire designed to discover the view of villagers on the most important issues will be dsitributed. Copies are available for every adult in the village to have their say. Everybody's opinion matters – which is why we urge you to help decide the future of Bildeston.
In 2007 Bildeston residents were invited to take part in a survey to help plan the future ofour village. There was a great response with 617 responsents from the 297 households. After much analysis, a detailed report was produced and the Bildeston Parish Plan can be downloaded HERE
Bildeston Community Speedwatch Scheme
Speedwatch needs your help! It is an important initiative that promotes safer driving through education rather than prosecution. With limited resources available, rural villages like Bildeston receive less regular and robust Police attention than main trunk roads and motorways, despite the fact that a high proportion of accidents are on country roads and in villages. It relies upon the participation of volunteers like you who want to improve road safety and reduce the risk of accidents.
Under new guidelines, we are now required to have a minimum of 3 people on duty at a time to undertake a Speedwatch. Could you spare a couple of hours a month to help your village? If so, please help to keep Speedwatch alive in Bildeston by contacting, David Blackburn on 01449 776393.
